Hi 👋 Welcome to AlyssaPhotoZ! I’m a nature photographer based in Florida, USA.
I’m an animal lover and native Floridian. My love for the variety and complexities of nature started at a young age growing up on Florida’s gulf coast. I found my love for nature photography as a hobby by accident in 2015, and haven’t stopped learning and trying to evolve my techniques since! Photography is both a form of personal meditation and creative expression for me. My profession, by trade, is not photography and consider myself a professional amateur😊
I have and will sell my photographs and you’re welcome to contact me through this site if you’re interested in doing so. Otherwise I hope you’ll enjoy my site and thank you for stopping by!

📸Gear: I use Canon camera bodies and lenses and love their interchangeable lens system. I started on a Rebel T6S and now also use their EOS 5D Mark IV.
I prefer shooting wild subjects in their natural environment and believe it to be a responsibility not to disturb nature. I love early morning sunlight and tend to plan most of my time photographing just after the sun rises. I shoot handheld (without a tripod), and love the challenge of fast moving, small subjects like bees. I prefer macrophotography but will use an ultra zoom lens for larger subjects so I can stay far away. I shoot in both automatic and manual modes and find the most success capturing moving subjects with manual settings and manual focus lenses.
My favorite thing to shoot? Bees!🐝🐝
With the brightness of the Florida sun I’m able to increase my This allows me to capture the detail and the wings in motion (personal style preference) as they buzz around the flowers.
Lunar photography is a personal favorite…when the weather wants to cooperate. I tend to favor my Canon EF 100-400 lens but will use an extender on occasion. Most lunar photography does necessitate the use of a tripod but I have been known to use my knee in a pinch.
I’ve been so grateful for the camaraderie and support of fellow photographers sharing their insights through social media, educational courses, or through networking. Positive feedback, encouragement, and access to a variety of educational resources is so important to new photographers. I hope to continue to pay-it-forward to aspiring new and established photographers alike.
Donating my work to conservation or wildlife preservation efforts is also important to me. I encourage other photographers to see how their work can contribute to helping a cause near to their hearts!
